According to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan imported 648,000 tons of steel products in last December, falling by 3.1% from a month ago and decreasing by 13% year on year.
Among them, 360,000 tons were steel products for general use, falling by 9.5% and 46,000 tons were specialty steel products, decreasing by 38.7%, both compared to those in a month ago.
In 2012, the country’s imports of steel products amounted to 8.04 million tons, decreasing by 3.1% year on year.
