On December 4, Baosteel Automobile Steel Development and Application Technology State Key Laboratory passes expert review and acceptance organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The expert group agrees that the laboratory relies on Baosteel technological innovation system, continues to strengthen automotive steel technology research and contributes to further promoting automobile industry technological progress and national development. Its research direction and focus meet the construction requirements of State Key Laboratory.
Construction of State Key Laboratory in enterprises is an important item in the country's creating three innovation project pillars of innovation-oriented enterprises, technical innovation alliance and integrated innovative technology platform. Automotive Steel Technology Development and Application State Key Laboratory is started in June 2010 and it aims to create a national innovation platform which has national high-performance automobile steel base, developes automotive steel technological talents and promotes international exchanges.
For two years since its construction, targeting toward automotive industry "lightweight, safe, long-life" demand and industry development direction, Baosteel does key technology research in automotive steel product development, forming, welding, painting, and corrosion and protection technology and achieves remarkable results. At the same time, during the construction of the laboratory, it undertakes 5 national projects, applies for 35 patents, wins 7 national and provincial awards, takes charge and participates in the development of 6 national standards, 8 industry standards. It plays an active supporting and leading role in the field of automotive steel in China.
The accreditation inspection expert group consists of automotive steel field experts and scholars from key state institutions and key laboratories. After listening to the report on laboratory building, field questioning as well as laboratory construction field visiting, the group agrees that the lab revolves around the national automobile industry development strategy. Targeting toward automotive industry "weight loss, energy conservation, safety" trends, it carries out industry forefront, strategic and innovative research, makes considerable progress in concise research direction, equipment building, institution building and talent building and completes its task. At the same time, the laboratory has played an important role in promoting the industry's key technology innovation, enhancing the technical radiatation ability and promoting combination of production, research and learning.
Automobile Steel Development and Application Technology State Key Laboratory passing acceptance shows Baosteel's full integration into the national automotive steel technology innovation system. It will help further promote Baosteel automobile steel technology level, evoke Baosteel leading role in the industry. Meanwhile, with the State Key Laboratory platform, Baosteel will strengthen in a wider range exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign universities, research institutions and professional enterprises.
